Superior Panthers

The Superior baseball team defeated both Mogollon and Pima last week by identical 11 – 1 scores.

Junior Marcos Bueno had two hits, including a triple, and drove in two runs in the Panthers’ win against Mogollon on Mar. 7. Edgar Galindo, a senior, also had two hits with an RBI.

Sophomore starting pitcher Steven Ybarra picked up his first win of the season, going four and two-thirds, allowing one run on three hits with four strikeouts and four walks. Senior Austin Navarrette pitched one-third of an inning in relief and fanned the only Mustangs’ hitter he faced.

Against Pima last Friday, Edgar Galindo had a hit and three RBI while Kale Major, who earned his third straight win as the starting pitcher, helped himself with two hits and two RBI.

Major, who lowered his ERA to 1.50, pitched five innings, allowing a single run on five hits with seven strikeouts and three walks. It was the sophomore’s third-straight game in which he fanned at least seven opposing batters.
