San Carlos’ Baseball, Softball Players Earn All-Academic Honors

A number of San Carlos baseball and softball players have already received numerous postseason honors for their performance on the field. Now Sports360AZ.com, a local digital media outlet with high-quality high school sports content, has released its 2016 All-Academic Baseball and Softball Teams, which represent “the best the state has to offer both on the diamond as well as in the classroom.”

Players were nominated by coaches and members of the Arizona High School baseball and softball communities, according to the site. Nominees were required to be varsity level student-athletes with at least a 3.0 unweighted or a 3.5 weighted grade-point average.

The following is a list of San Carlos players who received All-Academic honors:

SAN CARLOS BASEBALL

2016 All-Academic Honorable Mention – Michael Antonio (3.9 GPA)

SAN CARLOS SOFTBALL

2016 All-Academic Honorable Mention – Alyshia Case (3.83 unweighted GPA), Chasity Dosela (3.9 unweighted GPA), Kayla Dosela (3.12 unweighted GPA), Brandee Joe (4.0 unweighted GPA), Elsie Joe (3.28 unweighted GPA), Ariel Kindelay (3.31 unweighted GPA), Markayle Norman (4.0 unweighted GPA), Bianca Pike (3.52 unweighted GPA) and Christine Talgo (3.41 unweighted GPA)

Copper Town State Track Results

Several members from area track & field teams qualified to compete at the 2016 Division III & IV AIA State Track & Field Championships, which took place May 4-7 at Mesa Community College.

The final results of area team members are listed below by school and event:

SAN CARLOS

Boys Division IV High Jump – Al Case, Jr (So), 14th

Girls Division IV Discus Throw – Lauren Pina (Jr), 24th

Girls Division IV Shot Put – Kaelie Nash (Jr), 18th

Girls Division III 800m Run – Jerrica Hatch (Jr) – 15th
