Community Schools Basketball heads to Kearny

As this new year has begun, we look forward to Community Schools Athletic League which is a range of school districts including the Oracle School District, Mammoth-San Manuel (MSM) Unified School District, Hayden-Winkelman Unified School District and the Ray Unified School District. These programs include soccer, flag football, basketball, wrestling, Aikido karate, kids cooking, swimming and cheerleading/spirit squad through multiple events.

Basketball season is in full swing and Saturday games were held in Kearny at the Ray High School gym.

Lisa Armenta, community schools director at Mammoth-San Manuel, is excited about the new year and the activities for the youth. For those of you not familiar with community schools basketball program it has four age appropriate divisions: kindergarten/down, first/second grade, third/fourth grade and fifth/sixth grade. The junior high division that community schools has tried to put in place simply doesn’t work due to incredible success of the four Copper Corridor school district programs.

The reason the MSM Community Schools Athletics Program is blooming is through the volunteers that give selflessly their time and dedication to help the youth of our communities. Let’s make this year another great year!

If you have the opportunity to watch any of the upcoming games, please do so. If you have questions or need additional information, please refer to MSM Community Schools Facebook page at: Msm CommunitySchools or contact Lisa Armenta at 520-385-2337 ext. 1110.
