Miami’s Powell, San Carlos’ Antonio Named Coach and Player of the Year

The Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA) released its baseball and softball All-Section teams on Saturday, May 14,  which recognized Miami head coach Brandon Powell and San Carlos sophomore Michael Antonio as the Division V Section V Coach and Player of the Year, respectively.

Four teams from the CopperTownNews.com area reached the 2016 State Playoffs and the players from those teams earned the well-deserved postseason recognition.

The following is a list, by team and sport, of the area players who were named 2016 AIA All-Section:

MIAMI BASEBALL

AIA Division V Section V Coach of the Year – Brandon Powell.

AIA Division V Section V First Team – Trevor Horta and Logan Peery.

AIA Division V Section V Second Team – Mando Garcia and Joseph Radke

MIAMI SOFTBALL

AIA Division V Section V First Team – Keisha Bowser.

AIA Division V Section V Second Team – Jaydan Allinson

AIA Division V Section V Honorable Mention – Stella Lopez, Sydney Reveles and Autumn Sanchez.

SAN CARLOS BASEBALL

AIA Division V Section V Player of the Year – Michael Antonio.

AIA Division V Section V First Team – Michael Antonio.

AIA Division V Section V Second Team – Adriano Steele.

SAN CARLOS SOFTBALL

AIA Division V Section V First Team – LaTasha Harvey and Adrianna Haozous.

AIA Division V Section V Honorable Mention – Chasity Dosela, Ariel Kindelay and Bianca Pike.

GLOBE SOFTBALL

AIA Division V Section V First Team – Deverae Escobedo and Bethanie Hudson.

AIA Division V Section V Second Team – Kayla Howard and Corrin VanBuskirk.

AIA Division V Section V Honorable Mention – Skyley Mikeworth, Alexia Muniz and Kristen Williams.
