Dry Heat – Taking the Temperature: 2016

A new year is upon us and it will be an important one for the country. President Obama is in his last year of office and it will be interesting to see what he does to preserve and enhance his legacy. The presidential election will determine the direction our country follows and will probably impact the Supreme Court.

I would like to remind my Republican friends (yes, I have a few left) especially those that lean to the far right, that in the seven years President Obama has been in office that he did not come for your guns, he is not going to declare martial law before the election so he can name himself king and he is not the Anti-Christ. Contrary to what Donald Trump, Fox News and the Republinuts have led you to believe, President Obama was born in the United States and he is a Christian.

I look for the President to further his push for reform in the criminal justice system, fight for voting rights for all Americans and work for a comprehensive immigration plan. It wouldn’t surprise me if he uses an Executive Order and offers some type of amnesty program for many of the undocumented immigrants. In fact I hope he does. It would be a good send off for his Presidency and a way to tell the obstructionist, do nothing Congress to kiss his assertive actions.
