After watching Superior High School win the Division IV State Championship earlier this year, the Superior Little League Senior Softball team followed with a championship of its own, winning the Arizona District 4 All-Star Tournament last Friday night.

Superior defeated Maricopa 5 – 4 in the championship game.

With two championships and a chance for a third in less than two months, perhaps Superior should be known asSoftballtown. If cities like Detroit and Green Bay can be known asHockeytownandTitletown, respectively, after a historic and successful runs by the Red Wings and Packers, then certainly Superior is worthy of its own nickname.

The new District 4 champions now advance to the Senior Softball Arizona State All-Star Tournament, which is scheduled to begin July 13 in Maricopa at the Copper Sky Recreation Center.
