Get star struck at the Superior High Homecoming

The Superior High School Student Council kicked off a movie and celebrity homecoming theme on Monday. The public is invited to join in on the homecoming celebrations there will be several events open to the public including the powderpuff football game on Thursday night at 5 p.m. and the annual homecoming parade, tailgate party and football game on Friday. Businesses and community members are all encouraged to wear black and orange to spread team spirit.

The parade will begin on Magma Ave. at 5 p.m. Those interested in entering a parade float or entry should register at the Superior Junior Senior High School office; the entry fee is $10 and line up is at 4 p.m. Following the parade there will be a community tail gate party prior to the game. There will be several fundraising and game booths set up at 5:30 p.m. at the south patio of the Junior/Senior High School. Community groups wishing to participate in the tail gate party need to get approval from the Student Council.

Kick off of the Homecoming game will be at 7 p.m. The Superior Panthers will face the Hayden Lobos. Pre-Sale tickets are available at the Superior Junior Senior High School. School officials recommend buying tickets beforehand to avoid the wait in line, as crowd attendance is expected to be high. The homecoming king and queen will announced at halftime of the homecoming game.

The leading actors and actresses (King and Queen nominees) are seniors Hunter Flannagan, Levi French, Megan Mashaw, Cierra Navarrette, Matthew Zavala, and Martin Peru. Supporting actors (royalty court) for homecoming have been announced. Representing the freshman class are Tatianna Babino and Jakob Sinteral; sophomore class royalty are Eleanna Ybarra and Jesse Lopez; and representing the junior class is Marina Hiracheta and Elias Olmos.

Saturday night from 8 p.m. to midnight the SHS student council will host a semi formal dance for their classmates at the High School.
