The Superior softball team crushed the Pima Roughriders last week, 13 – 1. The fifth-ranked Panthers scored 12 runs in the first two innings of the game on the way to their 14th victory of the year.

Cierra Navarrette, Gabby Salcido, and Ariel Alonzo each homered for the Panthers. Navarrette (3) and Salcido (4) combined for seven RBI. Hunter Flanagan joined Navarrette and Salcido in recording multi-hit games.

Sophomore Keana Torres was the winning pitcher. She did not allow a hit in her three innings pitched. Hunter Flanagan came on in relief and pitched two scoreless innings.

The Panthers closed out their regular season on Tuesday versus Miami. They’ll await their first-round playoff opponent when the AIA State Championship Brackets are released on Thursday, May 1 at 2:30 p.m.
