Roger Alan Irwin

Roger Alan Irwin was born Nov 4, 1950 in Albuquerque NM, the second of three sons, to Alfred Lee and Louise Irwin. He passed away in Tucson on July 13, 2016.

His family moved to Catalina AZ when he was a young teen and he was in the first graduating class of Canyon Del Oro HS in 1968.  After high school he attended Arizona Western College where he played basketball, and later had many working adventures including time spent in a gold mine in Alaska, work in Real Estate, and in Sales and Marketing in the motorcycle accessory industry.

He was a martial artist, a scuba diver, and a motorcycle enthusiast.  He loved playing basketball and played almost every day through his late 50s when he had to pass the torch to his sons.

Roger never met a stranger, offered food and money to the homeless, and was the first to help a stranded driver.  He served an LDS Mission at the age of 25 in Peru, South America, which was a transcendent experience for him, and became fluent in Spanish.

He married Shari at 39 and has three beautiful children:  Taylor (husband Andrew) Cline, Jared, and Jordan. He is also survived by his brothers Ron and Alwyn, and his cousins Frank and Martie Irwin who have provided such loving care to him.

A Celebration of Eternal Life will be held on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at 10 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 6150 E. Fairmount St., Tucson. Interment will be in Luna, New Mexico.
