Running in costume is just part of the fun of participating in the annual Oracle Run, a Dia de los Muertos/Halloween themed race set for Oct. 31.

San Manuel Miner

The 33rd annual Oracle Run will be held on Saturday, October 31. Registration and packet pick up for the Dia de Los Muertos/Halloween themed race will begin at 7:30 a.m. in front of the Acadia Ranch Museum. The 10K (6.2 miles) run begins at 9 a.m. followed by the start of the one mile Fun Run/Walk at 9:05. As the event falls on Halloween this year, there will be a special prize for the runner that best expresses the Halloween theme and for a kid’s best costume.

Oracle Run T-shirts will be provided to all the race contestants. This year’s shirt was designed by Kelly Cathey, a San Manuel High School graduate and former world class runner. She holds the record time for the women’s division of the Oracle Run. Awards will be given for the overall 10K men, women and masters champions as well as the top three finishers in the Fun Run/Walk and the 12 age divisions. Random prizes will be given out to participants courtesy of local merchants. The Oracle Run is made possible by the Southern Arizona Roadrunners (SAR) and the Oracle Historical Society. Race Director is Darrell Klesch.

This is a challenging, fun event that benefits the Oracle Historical Society.

For more information contact Darrell Klesch at 520-896-9609 or visit the SAR website: www.azroadrunners.org.
