Mt. Vista baseball and softball teams prepare for Spring

It is getting close to Spring which means baseball and softball season is right around the corner. The Mt. Vista School baseball and softball teams are getting ready for the season which begins on Feb. 25 when the teams travel to Ray. The baseball team’s Head Coach is Joe Estrada and Assistant Coach is Renee Martinez. Coach Estrada said, “This year’s team is young but they have a lot of heart.” There are only five eighth graders on the team this year, six seventh graders and five sixth graders.

The softball team is coached by Patti Ellis, head coach and Assistant Coach Brenda Garcia. Coach Ellis said of the team, “We have some pretty good ballplayers this year.”

The Central Junior High League is made up of the following teams: Mt. Vista Cougars, Eloy Blue Devils, Ray Bearcats, High Desert Tigers, Hayden Lobos, Miami Vandals, San Carlos Braves, Superior Panthers and the San Manuel Miners.
