McCombs selected for first ‘Yard of the Month’ in Kearny

The beautifully-landscaped yard of Wayne and Doris McComb at 354 Hartford (the corner of Tilbury and Hartford) is the first Yard of the Month selected by the Journey for a Clean Kearny committee.

When the McCombs moved to Kearny a few years back, they came to a home which featured a mature mesquite tree in the front and a large saguaro in the back. They worked to improve the yard with more desert plantings and small patches of grass to add a note of green. Their friend, Ron Hamilton, arranged to get them several large decorative rocks, including one behemoth which broke his trailer axle and leaf spring during the move! The little mountain in front features a seven-foot-tall Blue Agave and a large Variegated Agave, along with other desert plantings.

Drive by and take a look at this water-efficient, low maintenance yard.
