Senior League Softball and Little League District 4 Tournaments

June 27th through July 11th, Superior Little League hosted both the Senior League Softball and Little League District 4 tournaments.  The success of these tournaments was not possible without the help of many volunteers and donors. The Superior Little League Board would like to thank the following contributors, umpires, announcers and volunteers for their generous donations of time and resources:  John Ellison, Ernie Ellison, Frank Blanco, Mike Fane, Louie Rabago, Rudy Jimenez, Erick Fritz, Tommy Ronca, David Chavez, William Sanchez, Paul Rabago, Jose Lira, David & Melissa Rabago, Mark & Dee Rabago, Rebecca Darling, Jessica Castillo, Michael Ramirez, Austin Navarrette, Cierra Navarrette, Ariel Alonzo, Amber Alonzo, Michael Diaz-Gonzalez, Janeen Duarte, Sonny & Rachael Cardenas, Porter’s Café, Town of Superior, Superior Unified School District, OMYA and Resolution Copper.

Senior League Softball State Tournament

July 11th through July 16th, the Senior League All-Star Softball Team represented District 4 in the State Tournament hosted by Nogales.  The team made Superior Little League history by being its first softball team to win the State Tournament and advancing to the Western Regional Tournament.  The Superior Little League Board and the Senior Softball Team would like to thank the following contributors for their generous donations of resources and money.  These contributions helped defray travel and meal costs at the State Tournament:  Superior Unified School District, Hing Family, Save Money Market, Superior Optimist Club, Social Club, Red Bear Outfitters, Juarez Family, Alonzo Family and Navarrette Family.

Senior League Softball Western Regional Tournament

July 21st through July 26th, the Senior League All-Star Softball Team represented the State of Arizona at the Western Regional Tournament hosted by Missoula, Montana.  Although the Team was eliminated from the tournament the girls put up a heck of fight and never quit on each other.  This display of courage and pride won the hearts of many fans, umpires and staff in Missoula.  It was a great experience for these young Superiorites and Superior Little League hopes the success of this team encourages other young athletes to put in the extra work and not settle on being good but being Superior.  Congratulations to the Team for representing their city and state with class and dignity.

The Superior Little League Board and the Senior League All-Star Softball Team are thankful beyond words to those who donated their resources and money to help cover all travel, hotel and meal costs at the Western Regional Tournament.  The outpouring level of support that our community gave to raise enough funds (over $18k) to cover the trip in only 4 days is testament to how supportive and committed our businesses, family and friends are to our youth.

Several local organizations stepped up to help make the trip a reality, including Resolution Copper who has supported little league in Superior and other communities in the region for many years.  As an active neighbor in Superior, they understand the importance of little league to the youth and to the families.  Other organizations that committed funds to get the team to Montana include:  Superior Optimist Club, #belikebilly, Superior Rotary, OMYA, Save Money Market, KGHM, Red Bear Outfitters, VFW Post 3584, Knights of Columbus, Town of Superior and the many individual supporters from Superior and beyond who made financial contributions either directly to Superior Little League or to the GoFundMe accounts.  A complete list of donors has been put on our website under All Stars at http://superiorlittleleagueaz.weebly.com/

The Team would also like to thank the following families for making the trip to Montana to support them: Drennan, Duarte, Hing, Hollingsworth, Sestiaga, Sommer, Juarez, Ybarra and extended Sanchez families.  Thank you to all the fans who followed and supported them through their journey on Facebook.  Thank you to IMO Eddie Longoria and Los Hermanos for the recognition ceremony held on Sat. July 30th.
