Don’t know about you but the first thing that comes to my mind when I see a Lynch mob forming is has someone been accused of something, formally charged and prosecuted by a fair and impartial jury with his right to confront his accusers and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defense?
I feel this situation with our Mayor, Town Manager and Finance Guy has turned into a movie straight from the Old West … I half expect to see the Gallows being set up in town, the women baking cakes and everyone anxiously anticipating the triple hanging as a town celebration with cocktails and dancing at the local saloon to follow!
I just joined this celebration recently to only feel sickened by the lack of common sense of the letters I have read and the slander, ignorance and injustice that these authors are creating in our town!
I am proud to say I was born here, a native of Superior and having gone to school here I grew up with two of these people that are being slandered and attacked; I feel without any real justification. Does anyone here really want to know the truth or is there a hidden agenda to this defamation of character?
I love this town that I no longer recognize … We are a people of hard working and honorable decent with true integrity! That’s what my parents, grand parents, uncles & aunts instilled in me along with the kin of our town under fire. We were all raised together in a time when the mine was operating and all of our parents raised us on copper, the fruit of our land. Our first response was never to publicly humiliate each other for an error but to stand together, learn and grow!
I close my letter with this quote and reach out to the true Superiorites in hopes that they will search only for truth and not fall for slanderous agendas as we resolve this matter with the sense of dignity & respect taught to us by our forefathers!
