Following high school, she attended Western New Mexico University in Silver City, NM with a major in Education.
During her life she lived in New Mexico, Ilo, Peru, and several different times in Arizona. One of her favorite times in her life was when her family was all together for the last time at the Top of the World, Arizona. The family moved to Top of the World in 1969 and then she eventually settled in Superior, AZ in 1980.
She began her teaching career in Silver City, NM. following college in 1951, she taught in Peru, and again in Arizona at Superior Elementary School in 1969, until she retired in 1989.
