Jesus S. Vargas

 Jesus S. Vargas passed away in Chandler, Arizona, from natural causes on Dec. 15, 2020 at the age of 92. He was born in Safford, Arizona on July 8, 1928 to Ynocensia Salas Vargas and Dario Carillo Vargas. He is preceded in death by his wife, Belen Bustamante Vargas, and son, Maximiliano Vargas.

  He is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Mary Marisela B. Vargas and her wife Danielle Vargas; partner, Betty Bartlett; godson, John Bartlett and partner Randy Bruen; sisters, Lupe Durazo and Rosa Gonzales; many nieces and nephews, and extended family and friends.

  Chuy, Cow, and Policia were just a few of the nicknames Jesus was known by to friends, family, neighbors and co-workers. Everyone that knew him remembers him as a generous, giving, and caring man. He helped so many people and family members over the years in various ways from free labor, to replacing and repairing motors, plumbing work, to just lending a hand. Jesus worked at the Kennecott Copper Mine for 44 years. He then worked on his own for another 24 years.

  Services will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2020. Viewing from 9-10 a.m. at Angels Cremation and Burial, 422 W. McLellan Rd., Mesa, AZ 85201. Mass will be held at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 230 W. Galveston St., Chandler, AZ 85225. Lunch to follow at Marisela’s home.
