Several local artists with support from local residents Merilee Lasch and Leslie Martin have started a chair art fundraiser to benefit art programs at the John F. Kennedy Elementary school.
These recycled chairs have all received a make over by several Superior residents and artists. The chairs will be auctioned off during a silent auction during the Prickly Pear Festival on Aug. 20 and 21. The chairs can be seen at the old Superior High School gymnasium during the event and several of the chairs are already on display at the Rolling Rock Gallery and Wild Cow Gallery.
Chuck Davidson, a renowned local artist, has also designed and painted a chair. His chair will be raffled off. His art work is sold throughout the world.
This idea was planned and coordinated by Merilee Lasch and Leslie Martin after they learned that the school has a limited budget for art supplies. Leslie Martin has been specifically working with the school through her Awesome Possum project.
All funds raised will go to the John F. Kennedy school art program.
