Everyday the news has information about the positive affects of exercise and taking care of one’s health. Along with the announcements of those studies is the methods in which one may take to reach their goal weight or just become healthier. From fad diets to lifestyle changes, there is something for everyone to pick from.
Tucked away on US 60 in Superior is Superior Fitness owned by Anthony Torres. The gym has been in Superior for almost 18 months. Their focus in designed to use very basic movements to build strength. Torres explained that people passing by may be intimidated by what they see when they see clients moving large tires or lifting a lot of weights.
“We teach people how to use the equipment safely and build their endurance,” he said. Each work out can be customized based on the individual goals and abilities.
These types of work outs are similar to the CrossFit gym movement that has swept the nation. Their gym is not a CrossFit certified but uses similar routines. This helps to keep the costs affordable for gym users. Packages to use the gym start at $30 a month and top out at $75 a month for unlimited uses. They also offer personal training for $35 a session. Torres is also hoping to add a summer program this year for student athletes wanting to build up their strength. Full details on this program are not finalized but he is hoping to work with the Superior Unified School District.
Anthony decided to develop a career in physical fitness after starting his career in the retail business. “I realized I wanted to work at something that I enjoy doing and helping people,” he explained. “I enjoy helping people reach their personal fitness goals.”
His advice is the same for business or personal fitness: “Just get out there and do it. There will always be a reason to wait to get started. The hardest part is getting started.”
