Hank Gutierrez of Ubiquity Telecommunications

Hank Gutierrez and his wife Tina moved out of Superior as young adults.  Hank began his career in the telecommunications field before cell phones existed and definitely before a blue tooth device could run your entire home from far away.  The days were much simpler, installing phone lines and making repairs, but it was that experience that opened a variety doors for him.  He worked for 35 years in the telecommunication industry, working for major corporations like Lucent, AT&T and Avaya.  During his career, he began planning and strategizing the business he planned to open when he retired.  That is how Ubiquity Telecommunications began.

Ubiquity Telecommunications offers a variety of services for local businesses including project management, fiber installation, network cutoff, data cabling installation, Cisco end user training and overall telecommunication connectivity consultations.

Hank returned to Superior after working in Salt Lake City for the Winter Olympics.

“We came home because it was so beautiful. We never really planned on coming back,” he said.

He and his wife Tina decided that moving that opening Ubiquity Telecommunications in Superior was a smart move.

“I wanted to provide my services to rural and eastern Arizona, Superior was a good launching point for that,” explained Hank.  His end goal of his business is to transfer the knowledge he has to young adults, so they can have the same opportunities that he has had in his career.

His advice to his fellow entrepreneurs and those considering opening a business: “Have a passion for the business you are in and have a clear understanding of the job you need to accomplish.”  He advises that if you are planning to work in the telecommunications industry, you should anticipate working on weekends, evening and holidays to accommodate the business community work schedule.  He recommends being skillful in developing relationships and networking.

Hank and Tina Gutierrez are very active members of the community when they are not busy running Ubiquity Telecommunications.  They also enjoy spending quality time with their children, grandchildren, family and friends.
