The Superior Rotary had two guest speakers, Larry Bravo who is the incumbent candidate for the Justice of the Peace and John Tameron who is running for the Superior School Board.
Larry Bravo graduated from Hayden High School. He attended Pima Community College in Tucson where he studied Criminal Justice. He attended Central Arizona Regional Law Officers Training Academy and graduated in 1975 and became a police officer where for 15 years he worked all of the copper communities. He was a sergeant for the Kearny Police Department and later worked for the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office. He also worked for Asarco in the maintenance department where he was a union member of USW Local 915. In June of 2004 he was appointed as magistrate for the town of Hayden. In January 2007 he was sworn in as Justice of the Peace for Superior/Kearny Precinct. He enjoys being a Justice of the Peace even though it isn’t an easy job and continuing education is important. Bravo said, “I love my job.”
John Tameron is heavily involved in the community and has been closely watching the Superior School Board. Tameron feels the school board needs “accountability, all the way from the administration, teachers, school board, parents and students.” Tameron along with being a Superior council member, business owner and Rotarian, has a lot to offer the school board.
The Rotary recently held an open swim day at the Superior Pool and it was very successful. They had a full pool and gave out many prizes including 10 bicycles and several water sport toys. They also had hot dogs and other snacks for the youngsters. A good time was had by all.
The Superior Rotary is not only to bring people together, businesses, professional leaders, and community residents, it is also to work together and provide the community with humanitarian services. The Superior Rotary promotes the ideal of community service and finds it worthy to give back to the community. The rotary is excited to be taking on new members.
The Superior Rotary would like to invite community members, residents, anyone who might be interested to attend a weekly meeting at noon every Tuesday in the Blue Room at Los Hermanos Restaurant. The Superior Rotary group has good ideas and excited for the future of the town.
