Will Newman takes two championships at state high school swim meet

  Will Newman competed in the 2016 AIA Division III Swimming Championships on Nov. 5, 2016. The competition was held at the Phoenix County Day School, Phoenix, Arizona.

  The meet is divided up between prelims and finals. The top eight swimmers from each race of the prelims compete in the finals. The next eight (nine through sixteen) from the prelims or each race compete in the consolation finals. 

  Will was allowed to swim two individual events. He competed in the 200 yard IM (Individual Medley) and the 100 yard Back Stroke. He took first place in both events winning the State Championship titles. His times were: 1:57.03 in the 200 IM and 53:13 in the 100 Backstroke. He also broke the Championship meet swimming records held by swimmers from a previous state meet.

  Will lives in San Manuel, Arizona and attends Pusch Ridge Christian Academy High School in Tucson, Arizona.
