Applications for utility assistance grants under the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) will be taken on Wednesday, July 22, in Mammoth. The special intake will take place at 9 a.m. at the Mammoth Community Center/Senior Center, 101 W. 5th Street in Mammoth, Az for households from Mammoth, Oracle, San Manuel and Dudleyville. Senior Citizens will be seen first from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Anyone else interesting in applying for assistance will be allowed to sign in at 10:30 but no later than 11 a.m. The length of time staff will remain at the Special Intake will be based on the number of participants present. Individuals will be seen on a first come first serve basis. Only those signed in prior to 11 a.m. will be considered.

CAHRA staff and volunteers will meet with limited-income individuals who meet income guidelines. The services are aimed at helping households to stretch their income. Applications will be limited to LIHEAP utility assistance only.

Those applying for assistance are asked to come prepared. This helps staff to make immediate determination of eligibility and allows more households to be assisted. Those interested in applying for the Utility Assistance grant, must bring with them their most recent electric and gas billing statements (paid or unpaid) and the following documentation for all household members:

• Most recent utility bill(s). (Must be original most current billings(s)-paid or unpaid).

• Applicant Identity original document Verification: Drivers License, Photo Identification

• Original document verification/Social Security Cards for ALL Household members

• Proof of U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Legal Resident Status for ALL household members: Birth Certificate, Certificate of Naturalization, U.S. Passport, Verification of current Social Security Disability benefit, or proof of current legal resident status (original document).

• Proof of Gross income (before deductions) for everyone in the Household, for the past 30 days, from June 23 to July 22, 2015. (earned or unearned income)

This assistance can be received once every 12 months. If you have questions you may call the CAHRA receptionist at (520) 466-1112.

“We are pleased to offer these special intake efforts to reach as many individuals as possible”, Mary Lou Rosales, CAHRA Executive Director said. “We appreciate the Mammoth Senior Citizens Association for working so closely with us to bring these services to your community,” Rosales added. Other special intakes will be scheduled in other communities. They will be publicized when finalized.
