On Dec. 6, 2014, the Superior Police Department received a report of an accident that occurred on the dirt road off of Golf Course Road just outside of the Superior town limits. The report alleged that Vicente Arriola had stolen the vehicle from a Superior resident and lost control while driving into the desert area near the Highlands.

Officers from the Superior Police Department thoroughly investigated the incident and uncovered the facts related to this theft and subsequent crash. Arriola was detained on Jan. 7, 2015, and later booked into the Pinal County Jail on charges of theft of means of transportation, endangerment, criminal damage, leaving the scene of an accident, and reckless driving.

The Superior Police Department takes property crimes very seriously, recognizing that a citizen’s personal property should be safe and secure, and we will continue to investigate reports of property crimes vigorously.

On Jan. 8, 2015, the Superior Police Department received a report of a prowler dressed in camouflage and armed with a gun. Officer Ensley responded to the area immediately and located a subject matching that description. The subject tried to evade officers but was quickly apprehended in a nearby yard. The subject was identified as Johnny Figueroa, a local resident. He was subsequently arrested and booked on charges of possession of dangerous drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of burglary tools, trespass first degree, and disorderly conduct.

The Superior Police Department will continue to diligently patrol the streets in order to curtail suspicious activity.
