Baseball– The ninth-ranked Bearcats, after defeating San Carlos 17 – 0 a week earlier, earned their second-straight shutout victory by beating Hayden, 10 – 0. Derek Pacheco, Destry Yocum, and Robbin Newman each had two hits in the Cats win against the Lobos. Pacheco and Newman each doubled. Newman had two RBI and scored two runs. Senior starting pitcher Douglas McPeak pitched a complete game shutout to earn the win. He allowed three hits, two hits, and struck out seven to notch his third win of the year. Upcoming schedule: Mar. 25 at Florence, Mar. 31 at Pima, and Apr. 1 vs. Miami. All games are scheduled for 4 p.m.

Softball– The fourth-ranked Lady Cats won third-straight game and moved to 3 – 0 in sectional play with a 7 – 4 win over rival Hayden last Friday. Senior Elisa Rodriguez went 2-for-3 with a homerun, double, and three RBI to lead the Cats. Stormee Galka also had two hits, one of them a triple, while Savannah Willis had a double and two RBI. Galka pitched a complete game, allowing four runs, two earned, on six hits and two walks. She struck out 15 Lobos’ hitters in the game. Upcoming schedule: Mar. 31 at Pima and Apr. 1 vs. Miami. Both games are scheduled for 4 p.m.

Ray’s player of the week is senior Douglas McPeak. He pitched a three-hitter in a 10-0 victory over Hayden, striking out 7 and walking 2.
