Mammoth Police Report – May 18, 2016

  According to state law, police may arrest suspected offenders by two methods. The suspect may be physically taken into the department and booked into jail, or the arresting officer may write a citation and release the suspect to appear in court later. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Only criminal citations are listed. All damage amounts are estimates.

  Items are given to the San Manuel Miner by the Mammoth Police Department and reflect information available at the time the report is compiled.

April 25

  A dog was struck by a vehicle near the 77 Drive In on Hwy. 77. An officer responded and removed the dog.

April 29

  A suspicious vehicle was reported in the area of Hwy. 77. The vehicle was gone upon arrival of the officer.

  A party reported a marijuana pipe was sitting on a bench on 5th Street. An officer responded and removed the pipe for disposal.

May 2

  Possible child abuse was reported to police at the police station. An officer spoke with the subject and a witness. It was determined that allegations of child abuse are unfounded.

  A party came in to report that he had been threatened at the Circle K for talking to a younger female. He was unable to give a description of the subject.

May 5

  A person on 1st Street requested an officer speak to her neighbor about the beehive in the backyard. The neighbor was advised of the beehive and would try and contact beekeeper.

  A concerned driver came in to report that they had nearly struck a vehicle pulling out onto Hwy. 77. An officer spoke to both parties.

May 7

  A Chihuahua was attacked by a coyote. Animal Control was notified.

  An alarm went off on Rolf’s Avenue. DPS responded and advised that the house was secure and locked.

May 8

  A concerned citizen called and reported a vehicle racing in the neighborhood. An officer responded but was unable to locate the vehicle.

  Bees were reported on 1st Street. Mammoth Fire Department later responded and assisted with the bee removal.

  A party reported that a truck had driven up and over their berm and ruined it. The subject was advised that if he went onto the property again, he would be charged with trespassing. 

Calls not listed include: medical assist (36), animal complaint (6), warrant issued/cleared (1), fingerprints (2), agency assist (1), welfare check (1), fire (2) and traffic stop (10).
