The Superior Panthers girls’ basketball team gave the San Manuel Miners all they could handle in a 50 – 38 loss on January 15, 2014. The Miners entered the game with a record of 15 – 5, second place in their section, and seeded in the top 10 of the most current AIA rankings.
Player of the Game Elizabeth Ochoa, a freshman, scored a team-high 13 points in the game. She also had 2 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal. Senior Kiara Romero also scored in double figures with 11 points. Junior Cierra Navarrette had a team-high 8 rebounds. The Panthers’ defense recorded 14 steals against the Miners.
After a game at Ft. Thomas on January 21, the Panthers will play at Joseph City (Jan. 24) and home versus Hayden (Jan. 28). All games tipoff at 5:30 p.m.
