Jesus G. “Tomate” Contreras, 85, passed away in his home Thursday, Aug. 4, 2016. He was born on Nov. 21, 1930 in Superior, Arizona to Marcos and Placida Contreras.
Jesus is survived by his son, Jesus “Chacho” Contreras Jr.; his daughters, Cynthia (Willie) Ybarra, Linda (Louie) Castaneda, and Debbie (Jimmy) Contreras; his companion, Florene Aldrete; 10 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren (on the way); his sisters, Mary Velasquez, Lou Commans, and Frances Contreras; and his brothers, Patrick and Billy Contreras.
Jesus is preceded in death by his wife, Vera Contreras; his parents, Marcos and Placida Contreras; sister, Rosie Figueroa; brother, Armando Contreras; and grandson, Dondre Contreras.
Jesus was in the Air Force, worked for Magma Copper and BHP for 40 years, and worked for Swanson Security in Florence, Arizona.
Services will be Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2016 at St. Frances of Assisi Catholic Church in Superior, Arizona. Visitation is at 9 a.m. Rosary is at 9:30 a.m., and Mass at 10:00 a.m., Internment at 11:15 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Superior, Arizona.
