Jamie Jon Davis, 51, passed away Nov. 26, 2015.
Jamie came in kicking and screaming on Oct. 6, 1964 in Bonne Terre, MO.
Through his father’s engineering work he ended up in San Manuel where he was a 1982 graduate of San Manuel High School. After high school Jamie’s travels took him to many parts of the world. He was a retired United States Air Force IDMT and served during Desert Storm and provided medical and disaster relief during Hurricane Andrew in Florida.
Honorably discharged from the Air Force Jamie’s travels eventually landed him in Oklahoma City with the love of his life Mellissa. Diagnosed with cancer in 2013, he did not let that stop him from enjoying life. He never met a person with whom he couldn’t strike up a conversation and loved to share his stories from being overseas and of the places he had been. He also enjoyed cooking and being around family and friends. His love of reading led him to author two books: For Heaven’s Sake and Cancer, a Patient’s and Caregiver’s Guide.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Loree Ann Davis, and is survived by his wife, Melissa Davis; daughter, Mary Davis; grandson, Elijah; step-son, Jonathan Trampert (Melanie); and his ever-faithful Dachshund Brodie.
Jamie’s services were held Dec. 5, 2015 in Oklahoma City. The family asks anyone wishing to donate do so to the Integris Cancer Institute in Oklahoma City or to the American Cancer Society.
Farlow C. Davis, 85, passed away Jan. 13, 2016.
Farlow, or Viejo to many, came into this world June 18, 1930 in Scottsbluff, NE. Graduating from Scottsbluff High School in 1948, he went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree from the South Dakota School of Mines in 1952 and his Master’s from the University of Washington in 1953.
He spent almost two years in the United States Army going from Ft. Belvoir, VA to White Sands Missile Range, NM. There were many stories from those days which included many nights at the Owl Bar in San Antonio, NM as well as many trips, some or most unauthorized, to Juarez, Mexico.
Farlow’s schooling kicked in after the Army. It led him to Chile for two years and then back to the states. With stops in Carlsbad, NM, Bonne Terre, MO, Rochester, NY, Plainfield, NJ and El Paso, TX, plus a few that have been missed, he ended up in San Manuel, AZ working for Magma Copper Company until his retirement in 1997.
He enjoyed tinkering with many things, welding sculptures with old car parts and railroad spikes was one he really enjoyed; backpacking in the Catalina’s and the Grand Canyon with his good friend Bob was another. If you ever received a Kokopelli or one of his “copper trees” you know it was special and hand made with love.
Farlow enjoyed his wine, a good gin & tonic and his life with the most patient woman in the world, Barbara.
Farlow is preceded in death by his second son, Jamie, and is survived by his wife, Barbara Davis; step-daughters, Chris Ashby, Tami Teel and Suzie Reis; and his partners-in-crime, cats Norman and Molly.
The Casa da la Luz Hospice holds a special service in the spring to remember those who have been lost. Anyone wishing to attend can drop Barb a note for the date and time. Instead of flowers donations can be made to the Casa da la Luz Hospice in Tucson.
Farlow and Jamie are also survived by, sons and brothers, Shawn Davis, and Kevin Davis and wife, Letty.
