The Bearcats boys’ basketball team will need to replace two-thirds of its average points per game. The departure of Dominic Bravo and Quentin Camacho leaves a scoring void that needs to be filled.
Returning varsity starters Destry Yocum and Josh Miramontes are expected to replace some of the lost scoring from last year. The seniors are the top returning scorers on this year’s team.
Seth Harmon, Ramon Martinez, Roy White and Adonis Klockenga are returning players with varsity experience.
“We lost our starting guards,” Ray head coach Jeff Cude said in an email to theCopper Basin News. “We are going to have to get some good inside production from Destry and Ramon.”
Cude is satisfied that he can replace the high-scoring combo of Bravo and Camacho.
“We have some good guards coming back who are playing well in practice,” he said.
Finding a player or a group of players to replace the missing points from last year is not the most important part to being successful on the court this season, according to Cude.
“We need to play well defensively as a team to be competitive this year,” he declared.
The Bearcats open their season next Tuesday, Nov. 25, at Ft. Thomas. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m.
