Students honored at the annual Kearny Elks Youth Banquet.

  Kearny Elks Lodge #2478 honored Copper Basin area young people at its annual Youth Banquet Monday.

  Each academic year the Lodge sponsors a variety of contests and programs involving students from both the Ray and Hayden/Winkelman School Districts.

  Students receiving recognition included:

  Americanism Contest – Leticia Yvette, Cardell Timbush, Sarah Perez, Aliana Benavides, Damien Smith and Hannah Bonner.

  Drug Awareness Contest – Karissa Acuna and Yliana Montijo.

  Hoop Shoot – Derek Figueroa, Sarah Perez, Mia Tarragon and State Winner Deondre Colllier.

  Soccer Shoot – Eli Martinez, Savannah Ortiz, Ashton Kelley and Addyson Kelley.

  Students of the Month are selected each month for academic and school involvement. Students recognized this past school year were Kierra Guerrero (Aug. Hayden), Gabrielle Juvera (Sept. Ray), Jessica Chiquete (Sept. Hayden), Kenneth Palmer (Oct. Ray), Ryan Donovan (Oct. Hayden), Savannah Willis (Nov. Ray), Jose Gomez (Nov. Hayden), Ryan Amos (Dec. Ray), Jessica Lopez (Dec. Hayden), August Patterson (Jan. Ray), Alejandra Martinez (Jan. Hayden), Anthony Acuna (Feb. Ray), Devan Donovan (Feb. Hayden), Shannon Pitner (March Ray), Jonathan Jimenez (March Hayden), Jeron Coleman (April Ray) and Stormee Galka (May Ray).

  Finally, recognition was given to the administrators, Shelley Pacheco, Pam Gonzales, Curt Cook and Jeff Gregorich, Ray Counselor Sarah Naranjo, and Elks Exalted Ruler Charles Vega, and District Deputy GER East Dist. Sheila Stephenson.

   The members and officers of the Lodge would like to thank the administration, teachers and especially the parents of both school systems for participating, helping and raising such fine young ladies and gentlemen. Without this help the Lodge would not be able to accomplish the youth programs it does.
