On Monday, April 23, Mammoth Mayor Alvaro Barcelo and Vice-Mayor Frances Wickham put the town clerk and acting town manager, Rachelle Sanchez, on paid administrative leave. No information was given as to a reason for their action.
Mammoth Town Councilman Larry Ramirez has questioned whether this action was even legal since no official action was taken by the council as a whole. He has called the Arizona State Attorney General’s Office and was referred to the State Office of the Ombudsman who in turn referred him to the Pinal County Attorney’s Office. No word yet from James Walsh’s office.
