Trunk or Treat kicks off the Fall activities

Buy your candy, think of a clever game, decorate a booth or your vehicle and scurry to Alden Street Saturday, Oct 31, to give out your treats as the munchkins from the Copper Basin Area go through the traditional Great Punkin’.

Activities start at 4 p.m. but those wishing to participate from their booth or vehicle need to start setting up around 2 p.m. Check with Angela at the Chamber office to register. High School students who need Community Service hours for Scholarships are encouraged to assist with the Great Punkin’, which requires lining up hundreds of children by age groups, assisting them through the mouth of the pumpkin and awarding prizes. Nancy Hinojos is committee chair for this with Dave Orzell as the new Master of Ceremonies. A movie will be shown uptown after the Great Punkin’

The K Town Car Show and Fall Festival is only one week away, Nov. 7, starting at 8:30 a.m. There is still time for Arts and Crafts and merchandise vendors to sign up for a booth. The previous Car Show sponsored by Rip Vache of NAPA brought in a lot of winter visitors who were looking for someplace to spend their money on something other than food.

There will be a Poker Run starting at Rip’s Apache Junction NAPA with stops along the way and at least three in Kearny. Those coming from the south will have a stop at Eddie’s Tire. A Poker Walk will start at the Chamber office for the first card with four more at local businesses also.

Throughout the day there will be raffles and a t shirt mobile unit will be printing the car show t-shirts. Norm’s will sponsor the pie eating contest.

Rides will be available for those wanting to ride on a Monster Truck. This will take place in the Ray Federal Credit Union Parking lot. Bingo will take place all day.

If the cars are anywhere near the caliber of last year you can expect a great show with fun all day.

The Farmers Market and Swap meet will be Saturday, Nov. 14, in the parking lot between ARC and the Kearny Drug. The last one featured 16 vendors and a variety of items were on sale. The vendors have been pleased with their sales and that is what counts. The time will be announced later and depends on the weather. Cosmic Coffee was the winner of the Vendor fee 50/50 split.
