A town as old as Superior carries with it rich history and traditions. One history as old as Superior is military service, and one tradition as old as the town is honoring our veterans.

On Saturday, Nov. 18, a coalition of Vietnam Veterans, Veterans, community members, contributors, family members, and supporters gathered to cut the ribbon on the embodiment of the selflessness and sacrifice those men and women who served during the Vietnam War, one of the most tumultuous times of our nation’s history, brought to life by artists Myron Starr, Erica Raymond, Sam Bindle and Andrew Betom.

The Mural was the vision of local Superior resident Sonny Cruz, a Vietnam Veteran who understands personally the toll of the war and the healing process a project like this has for many people and our community.

The event was well attended by locals and visitors to our community. Each person, whether young or old, walked away from the experience with a deeper understanding of the sacrifice those brave souls made and the necessity to honor all Veterans who have passed from this world but also all Veterans who have served and giving them the respect and admiration they have always deserved.

Thank you to the following organizations: American Legion Post 17, American Legion Honor Guard from Post 41 and their Auxiliary, VFW Post 1704, VFW Post 3584, and the Christian Motorcycle Association Chapter 1024.

Special thank you to all donors and contributors: Lupe Cantley, Eddie Denogean, Judy Peters, Layla Shields, VFW Auxiliary Post 3584, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 41, Adelbert Cruz, Felicia
