Voters have a decision to make in August. Who will be mayor? Who will be elected to the Hayden Council?

The Hayden Town Council has several seats open for re-election including the seat of the Mayor.  Mayor Bobby Smith will seek re-election to his seat but will face an opponent Councilmember Jeremy Garcia who’s  current term is up in December 2016.

Recently the town council filled the vacant seat of former council member Rhonda Cooper with Dean Hettrick.  Hetrick will seek election to fulfill the two years left on Cooper’s term.  He does not face any opposition to this council term on the ballot.  He will need to run for re-election in 2018 should he wish to continue serving on the council.

Three council seats are up for re-election.  The council terms for members Enrique Lopez, Jeremy Garcia and Tommy Lagunas will all expire in December.  Only Enrique Lopez has submitted paper work to be on the ballot in August.  Garcia has submitted paper work to run for Mayor against incumbent Mayor Bobby Smith.

Those wishing to run for the upcoming election may still submit paperwork to run as a write in candidate.  The paperwork for a write in candidate must be submitted by July 21, 2016.
