Clarence Authur Hayes

, 67, also known to friends and family as “Tootie,” passed away Thursday, Nov. 19, 2015 in Mesa Arizona.

He was born Jan. 8, 1948 in Harrison, Arkansas. He was a diesel mechanic in the United States Navy from April 1968 until his discharge in January of 1972. He then was an exploration driller around the southwest and Alaska until 1977 when he moved to Arizona to be closer to his family. In 1988 he and his brother George started the local ice cream trucks that everyone in town grew up with until they retired in 2013.

Clarence is preceded in death  by his father, Glenn Hayes; mother, Euna Hayes; brother, Hercule Hayes; and loving brother-in-law, Joe Atchison.. He leaves behind his brothers, George Hayes of Kearny and Glenn Hayes Jr. (Margie) of Oklahoma; and sister, Dorothea Atchison of Kearny. Clarence leaves behind lots of nieces and nephews who he helped raise. He really enjoyed spending time with his family and became one of the kids whenever there were kids around. He was loved by so many and will be dearly missed.

A graveside burial will be held at his final resting place in Duncan, Arizona, on Jan. 23, 2016.
