During the last week of the 2020-21 school year, Hayden senior and softball player, Sonia Urias Gallego signed a letter of intent to play softball for Mesa Community College.

Gallego was Hayden’s lead off hitter and outfielder. She was known for her phrase, “game changer”, which she would use when challenging her teammates to be game changers.

“She can make things happen with her hitting and speed but most importantly was her ability to get her teammates to try their best. She was the first to go pick them [the team] up or challenge them. She was very coachable and a great team mate,” Coach and Athletic Director Lydia Martinez began, adding, “The senior girls this year will be greatly missed because they were all so talented and the most coachable girls I have had in a very long time.”
