For several years there had been talk about the San Carlos Apache Tribe of Arizona building a casino in the area of the extreme southwest corner of their reservation. After it was recently built it was called the Apache Sky Casino, and the entrance to it is from Highway 77 in Pinal County, Arizona, not far north of the turn off of the road that leads to Aravaipa Canyon where I had lived for many years. I had attended the Apache Sky Casino grand opening on April 1, 2017 and there were many people there.
I wish them luck in building their planned larger Apache Sky Casino with a hotel and restaurant in that area. There is still work going on at that site, and I imagine the available jobs at the Casino are welcome to many in that Dudleyville area and other areas.
The Apache Sky Casino has an online site in which people can learn what events are taking place, and where people can post their comments. I added my post on Oct. 7, 2017 about what I thought about my visits there, and how I enjoyed the view to the south of the top of Brandenburg Mountain that overlooks the western end of Aravaipa Creek. I also said that if the Apache Sky Casino has a gift shop at their planned future casino that I hoped that they would add copies of my published book A CREEKSIDE STORY – FROM BUCKBOARD DAYS TO ECOTOURISM at the shop because of some of the history I wrote about the San Carlos Apache Tribe and those tribal members who had Allotment lands along lower Aravaipa Creek.
