Indivisible Copper Corridor, led by Indivisible Oracle, will visit every town in the region with their Tax Day Caravan on Saturday, April 15. Our trek is one of over 150 locally organized Tax March events around the nation. Our message? The President must show us his tax returns. With our Caravan, rural Arizona joins in issuing this clarion call.
By staging a multi-town caravan of vehicles filled with energized citizens, banners, signs, and leaflets, Indivisible Copper Corridor will show Trump that we will not settle for his deception and broken campaign promises. The Tax Day Caravan will start in Oracle, then visit San Manuel, Mammoth, Dudleyville, Winkelman/Hayden, and Kearny, and complete its journey in Superior.
Why are Trump’s taxes so important? In Eastern Pinal County, we work hard to provide for our families and to build healthy communities. We pay our fair share to Uncle Sam year after year. But has our Commander in Chief paid his due? With no answer to our lingering questions, Americans are left to wonder what secrets lurk in Trump’s financial records.
Trump’s tax returns can reveal three kinds of information. First, what are his income sources, and how much does he make? Second, how does he structure his income for tax purposes? Third, what kinds of deductions does he take (including charitable contributions)? From this, we may learn the truth about his business partners, foreign bank accounts, overseas income, and other financial ties, all of which may reveal conflicts of interest between his business dealings and his presidency.
Ever since Richard Nixon set the precedent, candidates have voluntarily disclosed their tax records to the voters. While campaigning, Trump promised us over and over again that he would share his taxes, thus proving to us that “there’s nothing there.” Still we wait. By taking back these promises, Trump is concealing the truth. Our President needs to come clean. Is he indebted to any foreign entities, whether corporate or political? If he owes favors to one or many foreign powers (Russia is at the forefront), at best this is not in the interest of the American people. Who will he put first? Who will his policies benefit? We demand answers.
Our Caravan itinerary, with approximate arrival times in each community:
• Oracle: 7:30 a.m. rendezvous at the commuter parking lot by the lower Circle K.
• San Manuel: 8:30 a.m., at the upper shopping center. There will be a brief visit and an explanation of the importance of Trump releasing his tax returns.
• Mammoth: 9 a.m., at the Miners’ Memorial.
• Dudleyville: 9:30 a.m., at Lionel D. Ruiz Park.
• Winkelman/Hayden: 10 a.m., at the Copper Corridor Ore Cart (corner of Hwy. 77 and Hwy. 177).
• Kearny: 10:30 a.m., at the IGA.
• Superior: 11 a.m., at the famous Los Hermanos Restaurant (on Hwy 60), then lunch.
