Superior Police Report – July 27, 2016

  According to state law, police may arrest suspected offenders by two methods. The suspect may be physically taken into the department and booked into jail, or the arresting officer may write a citation and release the suspect to appear in court later. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Only criminal citations are listed. All damage amounts are estimates.

  Items are given to The Superior Sun by the Superior Police Department and reflect information available at the time the report is compiled.

July 15

  Dennis H. Gunnels, 31, Lakeside, was arrested in the area of Stone Ave. and Valentine St. and was charged with theft of a means of transportation. He was transported and booked into the Pinal County Jail in Florence.

  Georgette M. Hill, 32, Lakeside, was arrested in the area of Stone Ave. and Valentine St. on a felony failure to appear warrant issued by the Navajo County Sheriff’s Office. She was transported and booked into the Pinal County Jail.

  Christine A. Lechuga, 40, Superior, was arrested in the 100 block of Richard Ave on a felony warrant for obstructing justice issued by the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office. She was transported and booked into the Pinal County Jail.

  Theft of a vehicle was reported in the 100 block of Carney St.

  An accident without injuries was reported in the 700 block of Belmont Ave.

  Criminal damage was reported in the 100 block of Neary Ave.

July 16

  Theft was reported in the area of Stone Ave. and Valentine St.

  Theft was reported in the 200 block of Pinal Ave.

July 17

  Theft was reported in the 800 block of Western Ave.

  Theft was reported in the 800 block of Western Ave.

July 18

  Burglary was reported in the 400 block of Newmont St.

  Genevieve Tomerline, 36, Superior, was arrested in the area of Sunset Dr. and Belmont Ave. on a failure to appear warrant issued by the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office. She was transported and booked into the Pinal County Jail.

July 19

  An accident without injuries was reported in the area of U.S. Hwy. 60 and Main St.

July 20

  James M. Gutierrez, 55, Superior, was arrested in the area of Belmont Ave. and was charged with resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of dangerous drugs. He was also arrested on a felony warrant for probation violation issued by the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office. He was transported and booked into the Pinal County Jail.

July 21

  Roy E. Wheeler, 59, Superior, was arrested in the 400 block of Main St. on a felony warrant issued by the Arizona Department of Corrections for parole violation and a traffic warrant issued by the Kearny Police Department for driving on a suspended license. He was transported and booked into the Pinal County Jail.

  Calls not listed include traffic stop (19), animal complaint (6), civil matter (1), suspicious activity (5), fire (1), disturbance (4), threats/harassment (3), agency assist (3), abandoned vehicle (1), attempt to locate (3), alarm drop (2), citizen assist (1), medical assist (3), welfare check (3) information (3), 911 hang-up (2) and utility problem (1).

  Superior Police want to remind drivers to obey all the speed limits in the construction zone on U.S. Hwy. 60. ADOT is paying the Superior Police to do extra patrol in the construction zones to enforce speed limits during working hours. Fines are double in the construction zone while workers are present.

The Superior Police and Fire Departments have contracted all dispatch services to the Pinal County Sheriff (POLICE) and Florence PD (FIRE). As a result of these changes, you need to know some new phone numbers.
