John Villaverde

  John P. Villaverde, of Mesa, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2016, in Chandler. John was born Dec. 7, 1940 in Superior.

  He graduated from Superior High School at attended Arizona State University on a football scholarship. He received a Bachelor of Arts and a Masters in education, as well as an Administrative certificate. He went on to become a teacher, coach and principal. John changed careers and became a highly successful car salesman for Brown & Brown Chevrolet.

  John loved being around family and friends. He enjoyed music, dancing, sports, reading western novels, going to the casino and racetrack. He loved to cook and head a hearty appetite. John was generous and giving to all.

  John was preceded in death by daughters, Bridget and Veronica; parents, Ygnacio and Jessie Villaverde; sister, Frances SantaMaria; and brother, Jesse Villaverde. He is survived by brothers, Ygnacio (Dora), Bobby and Tony (Mary Ann) Villaverde; sisters, Lydia Casillas and Betty (Manuel) Vasquez; and numerous nephews and nieces.  You will forever remain in our hearts.

  Memorial Mass  was held at St. Mary Catholic Church, 230 W. Galveston St., Chandler, AZ 85225 on Monday, June 6, at 10 a.m. Condolences may be made at www.queenofheavencatholicmortuary.com.

  Arrangements entrusted to Queen of Heaven Catholic Funeral Home.
