He was born in Globe, Arizona on Aug. 13, 1947 to George C. DeGraff, Sr and Ruby Faye DeGraff. He was one of four sons, one of whom was his fraternal twin brother, Jerry L DeGraff. In his very early years, his family moved many times from the Globe-Miami area to California and back to Globe-Miami before they settled in Hayden in 1950 where his father worked as a boilermaker at ASARCO. Even then, they lived in 5 separate ASARCO company-owned houses until they finally settled in the present home. Terry grew up and attended grammar and high school in Hayden. He participated in sports and other activities. He graduated from Hayden High School in 1965.
Terry’s life after that reflected his desire to “do things his way”, and ultimately led to his being an itinerant worker. His most gainful job seemed to be working as a “rough-out” carpenter. Although he had numerous friends as he grew up and lived, he started to close down his associations until, at last, he became quite the recluse. He never married, but was a good son, brother, and uncle for a long time. His dedication to his parents was evidenced by his becoming the caregiver as they aged. All-in-all, the good side of his life outweighs the negative side.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin brother, Jerry. He is survived by his brothers, George DeGraff Jr. of Augusta, Georgia, and Michel DeGraff of Kingman, AZ.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial service to be held in the Griffith Mortuary Chapel, 101 Johnston Drive, Kearny at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 14, 2015.
