Matthew Hernandez and Ashley Lira

Six students. Four medals. One heading to nationals.

  Not bad.

The six Superior High School DECA students attended the DECA State Career Development Conference at the Arizona Grand Resort in Phoenix on March 3-4, 2018, competing against 82 other Arizona schools in the areas of Principles of Marketing, Sports and Entertainment Marketing, Quick Serve Restaurant Management, Marketing Communications, Hotel and Lodging Management, and Retail Merchandising.

Ashley Lira received three medals at the event, earning her the opportunity to travel to Atlanta, Georgia to compete in the International Career Development Conference in April. She received medals for:

• Test Medal Winner (scored in the top 10 percent of students taking the assessment)

• Role Play

• Third Place Overall in Marketing Communications.

Matthew Hernandez was also a Test Medal Winner.

“Mrs. Brammer and I are very proud of the effort and behavior of all of the students that attended the conference…they are truly SUPERIOR students,” DECA sponsor Christine Martinez told the Superior Sun in an email.

Students attending the state competition also included Naomi-Bo Hing, Victoria Juarez, Jewel Meza and Malayza Rogers.

Congratulations to all the students and good luck, Ashley!
