Lady Miners volleyball steps up to the net

The San Manuel Lady Miners volleyball team has been busy on the road taking some tough losses and picking up some valuable experience.

On August 30th, the Lady Miners paid a visit to Miami to take on the Lady Vandals taking the loss in three straight sets 25 – 21, 25 – 18, and 25 – 19.

Ladies contributing were Alexis Garibay with two assists and one dig, Karly Pena with 12 assists, two digs, and two blocks, Analisa Robles had two kills, and five blocks, Angelica Zuniga with five kills, and seven block, Asha Quintero with two kills, and one block, Ana Estrada had three digs, Mackenzie White had 13 assists, and one dig, Felisha Gomez had six assists, and three digs, Tisha Reidhead had three digs and Ana Zuniga had one kill.

Coach Deanne Brewer said, “Several times, we were ahead, but Miami would come back and score 5 in a row and we would just lay down.We really didn’t fight.”

On September 4th, the Lady Miners made a trip into to Tucson to take on Immaculate Heart won 3 – 1, the ladies lost the first game 25 – 19 but went on to win three straight 25 – 17, 25 – 23, and 25 – 18.

Stepping up at the net was Alexis Garibay with 11 digs, and two kills, Mireya Tamayo had seven digs, and one kill, Mackenzie White had two digs, and eight assists, Analisa Robles had eight kills, and two blocks, Ana Estrada had six digs, and one kill, Felisha Gomez had eight digs, three kills, and two assists, Karly Pena had 12 digs, and 13 assists, Ana Zuniga had four digs, Asha Quintero had three kills, Angelica Zuniga had 20 kills, and six blocks, and Tisha Reidhead had two digs, and seven assists.

In Florence on September 5th, the Lady Miners lost to the Lady Gophers in three straight sets 25 – 8,

25 – 7, and 25 – 15.

Contributing for the ladies was Alexis Garibay with 11 digs, Mireya Tamayo had four digs, Mackenzie White had two digs, one kill, two assists, and one block, Analisa Robles had four kills, and 10 blocks, Ana Estrada had two digs, Felicia Gomez had two digs, one kill, four assists, and two blocks, Karly Pena had five digs, Ana Zuniga had seven digs, Asha Quintero had one dig, and two kills, Angelica Zuniga had two kills, and one block, Tisha Reidhead had five digs, and Latryce Rodriguez had five digs.

The Lady Miners hosted the Lady Cats on September 6th and fell to Ray in three straight sets 25 – 19, 25 – 17, and 25 – 18.

Contributing for the ladies was Alexis Garibay with five digs, and three assists, Mireya Tamayo had nine digs, Mackenzie White had two digs, two kills, and two assists, Analisa Robles had one dig, six kills, and six blocks, Ana Estrada had five digs, Felisha Gomez had three digs, two kills, and six assists, Karly Pena had one kill, and 25 assists, Ana Zuniga had four digs, Asha Quintero three kills, one assist, and two blocks, Angelica Zuniga had six kills, and six blocks, and Tisha Reidhead had four digs, and five assists.

Coach Brewer said, “We have a very talented and versitile team, however, we are just going through the motions of playing the game.We are not being competitive within.I feel like our team is a lot better than we are playing right now.We need to work like a unit.”

The Lady Miners will host Hayden today at 6pm.
