The Kearny Trading Post has been open since April. Two sisters, Julie Vaglivielo and Missy Foster, are the owners. The two ladies saw that there was “no feed store here,” so they pooled their resources and opened up the business which is truly a trading post. The store stocks everything from pet food to used furniture.

KTP carries a full line of domestic pet food and feed for nearly every kind of animal including cattle, horses, goats, pigs, birds (wild and domestic), fish, turtles, etc. Star Milling is their food distributor. A line of animal pharmaceuticals is available.

Julie was a rancher in California and brings a lot of knowledge about animals and their care to the trading post. She raised llamas and was involved with 4H for 15 years. Her kids were 4H champions.

The store offers discounts to kids that are participating in 4H clubs.

“We love kids and animals,” said Julie and Missy. “We have a large following of kids who come into the store and help feed some of the animals.”

The trading post carries hay and shaving. They offer free delivery service in the Kearny area! They also have reasonable delivery rates: for Hayden, Dudleyville, Winkelman: $10; Dripping Springs: $12; Mammoth: $15: San Manuel: $17.

The store sells used furniture and arts and crafts on consignment. A variety of horse tack is available as well as pet supplies of all types including new dog kennels and gates, live traps and small animal traps. They sell live worms for fishing, chickens and will soon begin selling fish, baby chicks and ducks. They will also have an aquarium section. If you are looking for animals, they will find it for you and match you up with what you are looking for.

“We are into diversifying and willing to carry anything the customers can’t find at other places,” said Julie. “What we don’t have we can order. We are trying to keep our prices low to compete with the Valley. We try to keep enough product on line to service as many people as we can.”

The Kearny Trading Post believes in giving back to the community. They had an ROTC Day where 10 percent of all sales were donated to the Ray High School ROTC program.

“We want to do a lot for our community,” the two explained.

The Kearny Trading Post is located at 121 Tilbury Street (the old Circle K building). They can be contacted at (520) 363-5996. The hours are Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturdays 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. and closed on Sunday. Find them on Facebook at Kearny Trading Post and look for them on Instagram.

Stop by; you won’t be disappointed and remember to shop local.
