The Hayden-Winkelman School District will be hosting an AzMERIT parent information presentation on Thursday, Nov. 19, at 6 p.m., at the Hayden-Winkelman School District lobby. The purpose of this presentation is to explain the spring 2015 individual student results.
The presentation will explain why individual student AzMERIT scores are not comparable to the past Arizona AIMS. Parents need to understand that students who took AzMERIT may be less proficient than they were on AIMS. This decrease is not a reflection of students’ learning or the quality of their education.
With the Arizona newly adopted learning standards and a new assessment, schools and parents must work together to redefine our expectations and set higher academic goals for every student. AzMERIT scores are expected to increase over time, and more rigorous standards mean our students will be better prepared than ever to enter into an increasingly competitive world upon graduation.
“Come join us as we begin to make the changes to our instruction and curriculum that will help your child meet new academic standards,” invited Jeff Gregorich, School Superintendent.
