Who will be the 2013 Citizen of the Year and what plans are underway for events in the Copper Basin Area? Attend the COY dinner and Copper Basin Chamber annual business dinner, Monday, Feb. 24, at 7 p.m. at Rosalia’s Restaurant to find out.

Menu choices are carnitas (pork), carne asada (beef) or chili rellenos served with beans, rice, beverage and dessert for $15. Reservations can be made at the chamber office prior to Feb. 20.

Nominations for board members and election of chamber officers are currently underway and will be announced at the Annual Business meeting.

Plans for the Women’s Expo are being finalized and there is still vendor space for any entrepreneurs looking for a chance to feature their products. Crafts and activities for children can also be featured. This event which corresponds to the International Women’s Expo will be held March 8 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Pioneer Days is March 20 to 23. Food vendor applications are due this week and there are still a few spaces left for merchandise vendors.

A special note: Lately we have received comments such as “how come we do not have as many activities as one of our neighboring communities who seems to have something every weekend?” Answer: We do have lots of ideas but it takes volunteers to make them successful!
