Batter up for the 2014 Little League season

The Superior Little League Board of directors are gearing up for another community tradition and that is Little League Baseball/Softball. This year Little League International will be celebrating its 75th Anniversary of Developing Major League People and Superior will also be celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Superior Little League Team Western Regional Championship. There are many important dates and events to remember in the coming weeks as the season gets started. There is something for everyone to enjoy at the ballpark.

Registrations for the upcoming 2014 Superior Little League season begin this week on Thursday, Feb. 6, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Superior Junior Senior High School Multipurpose Room. Additional registration dates will be held at the multipurpose room on Thursday, Feb. 13, 20, and 27. Parents should be aware that the last day to register for T-Ball is Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014. T-Ball opening day has tentatively been set for March 24, 2014. Baseball and Softball opening day is tentatively set for April 21, 2014. Registration fees are $45 for the first child, $35 for the second child and $10 each additional child. The league is looking for volunteer coaches, managers, field maintenance and concession workers. The Little League will be hosting its annual fundraiser golf tournament at Queen Valley Golf Course on Saturday, April 5, 2014. Registration begins at 7 a.m. with an 8 a.m. shot gun start. The three man scramble is $45 per player; cash prizes will be determined on number of entrees. Pre-registration is recommended, golfers should contact Martin Navarrette at 928-701-7451.
