Arnold P. Marquez

Arnold P. Marquez, 82, entered into the Arms of Our Lord, on Feb. 9, 2014 at his home in Superior, Arizona.

He was born in Superior on Feb. 17, 1931. Arnold graduated from Superior High School in 1950. He attended the University of Southern California (U.S.C.) and received the Al Ewen Achievement Award as Manager of the Baseball Team in 1957. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church and Cursillista, served on the Superior School Board for over 16 years, Los Reyes Club Member, Sonorese Club Member, and Board Member of the Kearny Credit Union. He retired from Kennecott Copper Mine in 1983, Correctional Officer at the Arizona State Prison (Florence, AZ), and Superior Appliance-Refrigeration Service (SARS) in 2009 (business owner) and Tax Accountant.

Arnold is survived by his wife of 49 years, Carolina Salazar Marquez; five daughters, Ruby Marquez Cervantes, Joanne Marquez, Rosanne Marquez-Yniguez, (Henry Yniguez), Susie Marquez-Munoz, Patricia Carbajal (George Carbajal); 13 grandchildren, Danny, Raquel, Vanessa, R.J., Alejandro, Nicholas, Emiliano, Diego, Ariana, Sophia, Maiya, Serena, and Dominic; five great-grandchildren, Christopher, Alize’, Daniel, James, Oliver; sister, Velia Ochoa; nephews, Mark, Robert and many nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 21, 2014 at 10 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 11 Church Ave, Superior, AZ 85173. Interment and Military Honors following Mass at Fairview Cemetery, Sunset Dr. Superior, AZ. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Superior Senior Citizen Center, P.O. Box 218, Superior, AZ 85173.
