Town of Kearny

The State of Arizona requires local municipalities to maintain a plan for development and community growth. These plans are required to be updated and approved every 10 years.  The process is usually one that is contracted out to a planning organization or engineering group, depending on the needs of each community.  These plans address traffic patterns and flow, economic development, infrastructure, and also starts out with a recap on the history of the community.

Before the plan is approved there are community input meetings.  Last Tuesday evening about a dozen residents of Kearny gathered to review the first draft of the plan.  Central Arizona Governments is developing the plan and managing the public process.

During the public process several residents expressed ideas on using the airport more, connecting the Arizona Trail to the community and also the possibility of focusing efforts on attracting retirees to move to Kearny.  Others echoed that they would like to see more families move in to the community with their children and how the affordable housing could also attract young families.

The plan is available at town hall for review.  All residents are encouraged to review the plan and make comments and suggestions.
