John D. Marcanti has announced that he is seeking reelection to the Gila County Board of Supervisors as Supervisor of District 3.  Marcanti thanks his constituents for placing their confidence in him in electing him to represent them as their Supervisor for the past 3-1/2 years.

Marcanti, a native of Gila County, has served with leadership and dedication for the people of Gila County in serving his District 3, which encompasses the areas of Globe, San Carlos, Star Valley, Payson Precinct 2, Young, Canyon Day, and Hayden-Winkelman.

Marcanti has particularly devoted extra time and funding on those programs that assist the youth and senior citizens in the County.  For the senior citizens and handicapped, he has supported the Globe Active Adult Center, the Hayden-Winkelman Senior Center and works closely with the Pinal-Gila Council for Senior Citizens.  Mr. Marcanti has also supported the Globe Veterans of Foreign Wars in helping to make their building handicapped accessible.  In support of the youth, he has contributed to the various sports and school programs in the Hayden-Winkelman, San Carlos and Globe schools.

In the San Carlos area, Mr. Marcanti has worked with the Tribal Administration to reestablish an Intergovernmental Agreement for the grading of designated roads.  He has also supported and worked with the Nalwoodi Denzhone Community Life Center project, which is now a youth rehabilitation training center and a revitalization effort of the 80-acre site, previously known as the Old Tree Farm, in collaboration with the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension.

In Star Valley, Marcanti has worked to obtain an economic development grant enabling the Town of Star Valley to place on line an auxiliary water well to provide a backup in the event of the failure of the primary well system.

Among these accomplishments, Mr. Marcanti continues to work on legislative issues concerning cost shifts of transportation revenues and highway user revenue funds that have been sharply decreased and/or eliminated by the Arizona State Legislature.   Marcanti is also passionate about plans for a new Globe-Miami animal shelter facility and work on that is ongoing.

Marcanti promises to continue his dedicated service to all of the residents of Gila County.
